Smashing is a small, semi-casual guild on the Rexxar server. We raid at 10:15pm-1:30am Rexxar server time Weds/Fri. (Essentially, US Pacific Time.) We currently have 14 "regular" raiders and 4 "semi-regular" raiders in the guild. We also have a lot of other friends in the guild at level 80.
We've cleared all of Naxx; OS (3D); the Vault; Malygos; and are 13/14 in Ulduar in 10-man raids. We're now working on ICC (Wing 1 done, Festergut/Rotface done), TotGC (on faction champs), and unlocking Algalon (4-towers, keeper hardmodes down) - due to attendance issues we're sitting at Firefighter.
We don't do 25-man raids and never will, although occasionally some of our members will help out other guilds by filling their 25-man rosters temporarily. We only will do this for raids that do not endanger our "strict 10-man" guild status on Guild Ox.
Smashing was formed 9 August 2007, although many of us played together for a long time before 2007. The roster is extremely stable with the bulk of our raid roster having been in the guild since February 2008. Many of us are related, married, dating, or friends in real life. Thus, this is a no-drama guild focused on people over progression. It is also a casual guild, and, at times, goes through raiding lulls based on player availability. And, we are old and we have children in the guild, so all language in guild chat/vent has to be PG-13.
The guild is casual but "professionalized." All of our regular raiders are expected to maximize their gear outside of raids and figure out how to maximize performance in relation to gear level. Players are also expected to show up on time for raids, save timers even in weeks we don't burn them together, and sign-up/decline raids. Everyone also stays out of trade chat drama.
Our loot system is a combination of /roll and discussion/negotiation between players. It is built on our long standing relationships and care for the group rather than individual gearing.
Smashing is currently overfull on raiders and not recruiting. We are happy to bring in old members, friends, or family - but there are no raid spots open.
We are also always looking for people on in the middle of the night to keep our Australian members company. We have a core of Australians who run stuff with the Aussies in and our night owls and insomniacs. If you are on at weird times (esp ~2am server on) and are looking for a guild to run 5-mans with, let me know. I can't offer you a raid spot, but, our Australian members are awesome players - so I can offer fast/fun clears of heroics and an occasional middle of the night raid.
